Registration

Registering in advance is a huge help to us for planning. To register, follow these two steps:

  1. Email whatthehexcast@gmail.com with your name.

  2. Send $5 via PayPal to “mortalrealms@gmail.com” or pay on the day of the event.

You will receive a confirmation email from a member of The Mortal Realms crew. Please note we manually check these so there will be a delay between submission and confirmation.

Prize Support

Alongside tournament champion, we’ll also have prizes for Best Painted, Best Sportsmanship, Best in Grand Alliance, and maybe a little something just for showing up.

Best in Grand Alliance
Our signature prize support category. The players that place the highest among those that brought a warband from the same Grand Alliance will be awarded Best in Grand Alliance for Chaos, Death, Destruction, and Order respectively - and will receive a corresponding set of custom activation tokens.

The Tokens
Designed and created by father and son duo. Made from black acrylic and hand painted.

Best Painted
Official Claim the Prize alternate art card from the Wyrdhollow organized play kit.

Best Sportmanship
Official Superiority Confirmed alternate art card from the Wyrdhollow organized play kit.

What is Nemesis?

Nemesis is one of three primary play formats available to Warhammer Underworlds players. These formats allow players to interact with the game in unique ways. Each format brings its own strengths and together they serve as pillars for organized play.

Official Nemesis Format Document

Play Formats: The Pillars of Underworlds
Rivals | No deckbuilding. Shuffle & play!
Nemesis | Deckbuilding from two sources- your warband’s Rivals deck (the cards unique to them) and one universal Rivals deck.
Championship | Deckbuilding from a product pool comprised of the latest four seasons of Underworlds. This format includes a Forsaken and Restricted list.

Event Rulings

The following will be in effect for the event with a cutoff date enforced for new releases:

  • The latest Designer Commentary and Errata. | Last updated October 12th, 2023

  • Products released on or before the cutoff date will be valid for use.

  • Boards found in the following sets will be valid for use: Starter Set 2023, Harrowdeep, Nethermaze, Gnarlwood, and Wyrdhollow

New Release Cutoff Date

Any new releases or updates to the documents outlined above after October 28th, 2023 will not be used. This is done to avoid drastic changes in expectations for players. Judges may still consider newly released content in making their rulings for continuity, and maintaining the spirit of the game.

Pairings & Tiebreakers
Your opponent for your first game will be randomly determined. Subsequent rounds will be paired by Win Record, Game Losses, Glory Point Differential, Strength of Schedule, and then Random. The player at the end of three rounds with the highest win record will be our Tournament Champion. In the case of ties, the following tiebreakers will be used in order to determine final event placements: Win Record, Game Losses, Glory Point Differential, Strength of Schedule, and then Rock, Paper, Scissors.

Additional Event Rulings
Updated: October 28th 2023 | These rulings have been made in advance by an event judge.*

Announcement
———————
Due to the delayed release of the Deathgorge core box in the US, we unfortunately need to factor its pushed release date and availability into our upcoming Madtown Throwdown Q4 tournament.

Given the new release date of 11/4, we understand that not everyone will be able to get their hands on the highly anticipated release in time for the 11/11 event. This release date also falls outside of our New Release Cutoff Date for the event (10/28), which is in place to ensure players have time to adapt to new releases with confidence that no additional changes will impact their preparations. We also understand that the new rulebook is publicly available and all living documents were updated on 10/12 to bring in the new season, and that many of you have begun to play with and adapt to these rules changes in excitement for the season's change.

So without further ado, here's how we're tackling this release hurdle for the Madtown Throwdown Q4.

IN EFFECT

NOT PERMITTED

  • Thricefold Discord

  • Cyreni's Razors

  • Force of Frost

  • Breakneck Slaughter

  • Deathgorge Boards

PERMITTED

  • Illusory Might

  • Harrowdeep Boards

Give Harrowdeep one final hurrah as we continue to dip our toes into the Deathgorge!!
